Professional Dress
The standard and expectations for professional dress vary based on
industry. What is appropriate and normal in one organization might not be
suitable in another. SCA refers to professional dress as “prepared dress.”
This means you have thought about what you are going to wear and have
chosen an outfit strategically.
What you choose to wear should reflect the appropriate standards for the
industry you are entering and will not hinder you from effectively doing your
job. If you are unsure what prepared dress looks like in your industry, ask a
recruiter or current professional. Additionally, we encourage you to dress in
a way that makes you comfortable and aligns with your identity, including
expressing your cultural background. If you are in need of prepared dress
items, we recommend visiting the SCA Career Closet and coming to
JCPenney Suit-Up events.
