Ready to Act
Keep going, you are almost to your goals! The third phase of the journey is the
Ready to Act phase.
Start taking proactive steps toward your career goals and striving to find your fit in
the workplace. The goal of finding your fit is to find a role and workplace where you
can thrive, be fulfilled, and contribute your best. When you are ready to act, start
by reflecting on your values and workplace preferences. Next, network with purpose
and research employers. Finally, conduct a strategic job search.
Move through the Ready To Act phase by participating in the following activities:
1.
Review your PathwayU Values and Workplace Preference Results:
Retake the assessments if you wish. These results can help you better
understand what you are looking for in a career or employer. Learn more on
page 42.
2.
Take a Professional Photo: A professional photo helps you make a positive
first impression. Use this photo on LinkedIn and other networking or job search
platforms.
3.
Prepare for your Job Search: Define what type of job you are looking for,
gather and refine all your materials, and create a strategy for your search.
Learn more on pages 44-45.
4. Attend a Career Fair: Meet face-to-face with recruiters and hiring managers.
Have your resume (pages 14-22) prepare an outfit (page 51), and practice your

Research Employers: Find companies that align with your values and career
goals. This research can help you determine fit and help you prepare for an

Practice your Interview Skills: Describe how you are the right fit for a future
employer. Learn about what to do before, during, and after an interview on
pages 49-53. To practice with a career coach schedule an appointment at

7.
Record your Post Graduation Outcome in Shocker Central. Find instructions
on page 55.
