Networking
Thank you Notes
Thank you notes are a great way to reiterate your interest
in a position, sell yourself, and thank an employer for
their time. Thank yous can come in many different forms,
written notes and thank you emails are the most common.
Choose which option is best for you!
PARTS OF A THANK YOU NOTE
1.
Introduction: Address the recipient. Make sure to
note who you speak with at career fairs.
Thank them for their time, advice, and insights.
Remind them of your interaction. In busy career fair
settings, remind them of your specific interaction to
jog their memory.
SAMPLE THANK YOU NOTE
Dear Ms. Doe,
Thank you for taking time to talk with me at the Wichita
State career fair today. I have been interested in Great
Company, Inc. for several months and I appreciated
learning more about the training program and the
company’s plans to expand.
As I mentioned during our conversation, through my
recent internship with Awesome Corporation, I gained
a detailed understanding of the product development
process and contributed to various steps between
product conception and marketing.
2.
Sell Yourself: If they are hiring for a position, state
your skills that match or showcase that you are a good
fit!
From the research I completed prior to the career fair
and the information you shared, I am convinced I would
be an ideal fit for Great Company, Inc.
3.
Reiterate your Gratitude: Thank the recipient again
for taking the time to speak with you.
I welcome the opportunity to talk with you again and
meet your other team members. I am open to moving to
any of the locations currently hiring.
Thanks again for attending the career fair at Wichita
State and talking with me about your opportunities. I
hope to speak with you again soon.
Sincerely,
Sam Student
References
Networking is a great place to begin building
quality relationships that lead to stellar
references. References are people you submit
to a position to verify your work and character.
The people you choose as references should
be those that can speak highly of you and give
insight to how you would excel in the position
you are applying for. For more information

professional documents visit
